Move-In
Move-in is an exciting and celebratory time for us on campus. We will do everything we can to ensure a smooth process for everyone. We ask that you please be patient.
Faculty and staff greeters will be walking around campus to answer questions and provide directions.
Please note the following:
- No room change requests will be granted during move-in to ensure a smooth check-in process and proper traffic flow.
- Be prepared to verify your assigned residence hall. Double-check your ESU portal for your assignment ahead of time.
- Only one car is allowed for check-in. Additional vehicles should park at either lot 23 behind Dansbury Dining Hall or lot 38 behind Kemp Library.
- You will be issued a hangtag. Make sure it is properly displayed with your mobile phone number clearly written.
- You have 20 minutes to unload your car. After 20 minutes, you will need to move your car to lot 23 or lot 38.
- Move-in carts are sparse. We strongly encourage you to bring your own cart or hand dolly.
- Make sure all of your items are packed neatly in boxes or bins. If needed, volunteers can assist you with unloading your car on that Wednesday and Thursday. Please note that volunteers are not responsible for lost or damaged items.
- Unfortunately, volunteers are not scheduled to assist with early arrival or returning/continuing student move-in days.
The eCard office is open if you need your picture taken and to pick up your eCard. If you had your picture taken during Orientation and just need to pick up your card, they are available (for students only) at the Parent tent.

- Find Your Residence Hall: Use the list below to locate your assigned residence hall and its move-in details.
- Find Your College or Major: Move-in times may vary based on your academic program. Select the category that applies
to you:
Education Majors (All Concentrations): Includes Early Childhood, Middle Level, Secondary, Special Education, etc.
College of Business Management: Includes the following majors:
- Business Management
- Accounting
- Finance
- Marketing
- Sport Management
- Hospitality, Tourism & Recreation Management
- Find Your Last Name: Move-in groups are also organized alphabetically. Locate your group by the first letter of your last name.
- Find Your Assigned Move-In Time: Refer to the schedule table or chart below based on the combination of:
- Your residence hall
- Your major/college
- Your last name
