Residential Move-In Plan for Spring 2021
A small number of ESU students have been approved to stay on campus for the spring.
For Hawthorn Suites, students will be directed to park at University Apartments to unload. For Hemlock Suites, students will be directed to park on Normal Street and behind the library when the Normal Street lot is full. For Sycamore Suites, students will be directed to park behind Sycamore Suites. For University Ridge, students will be directed to park at University Ridge. They will also be encouraged to being a hand dolly or cart with them, as we cannot provide carts for safety reasons. Once they unload, cars will be directed to the lot behind lower Dansbury Commons.

Students will be directed to exit their vehicle by themselves, and come to the front
entrance of the building in order to get their key, and they must be by themselves
and wearing a mask. There can be no more than one family member/friend assisting them
with move-in, and no one can be under the age of 18. All friends/family members should
also be wearing a mask.
Students should stay six feet apart from the shield and then come up for their key
once it has been laid on a table in front of them. There can only be one family per
elevator at a time. Students should que up outside the residence hall and be socially
distant, so that there are no large gatherings.
You will be given a specific move-in date and time via your ESU email sometime durring
the week of the 11th.
The requirements and structure below will help make a safer environment for your move-in day:
- For the safety of all Warriors, please ensure that face masks or cloth coverings are worn by you and your party during move-in.
- Including yourself, the maximum number of people in your move-in party is limited to three. Party members shall not include minors under the age of 14.
- Engage in conversation with your move-in party if any members are at a higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19. By the very nature of move-in day, there will be more people than normal in and around each residence hall.
- If you are feeling ill or have a temperature (100.4°F/38°C), you should delay your arrival until a later date when you are feeling better or after consulting with a medical professional. Residential and Dining Services will work to accommodate your alternate arrival date.
- Due to our commitment to social distance, it is necessary for students to return to campus in a staggered approach. For the safety of all Warriors, you are expected to arrive and depart campus during your scheduled time, which will be emailed to you.
- Due to CDC guidelines students and guests not wearing a mask on campus will be asked to either wear a mask or leave.
