Faculty Scholar

The faculty scholars are hired for a duration, typically, of two years and are invited to present their work at The Provost Colloquium on campus. They often host several other events while in their position which the FDI Director and GA will attend. In addition, they are provided funds, as approved by the Office of the Provost, to travel to at least one conference and share their scholarly work. A welcome event is hosted annually for the new scholars and those that are in their second year are invited to attend.

Student Scholar

This program aims to invite 10 students to be part of the FDI initiative who will be sponsored by the committee, allowing support for their research and funds for travel to conferences as approved by the Office of the Provost. The student scholars will participate in the annual FDI Student Conference held in spring of each academic year.

Book Club

Center for Multicultural Affairs currently runs a book club on campus and FDI will now work in tandem with them to read a book of empowerment across an academic year. The group will meet to address and discuss important issues in the text.

Debate Club

Debate club has a faculty coach that will work with students to learn the art of debate and prepare them for the state tournament in spring of each year. The GA will help promote debate through advertising and marketing on campus at student events like the club fair, involvement fair, and open houses when possible.

Creative Expression

This endeavor aims to invite students who are creating work around diversity, equity, and inclusion in art, theater, dance, digital media, and any other forum to share that work at the annual spring FDI Conference for students. A small reception to showcase this work will be hosted on our local campus.

Annual FDI Conference

This is held in the spring of each year and hosted by one of the PASSHE higher ed institutions. The thematic topic of the annual conference is closely related to the debate resolution and students from across the system are encouraged to submit written, creative, and performed work.

Speaker Series

This initiative is to bring speakers to campus, once a semester, independently or in conjunction with other departments and events taking palace on campus. This will involve community beyond the ESU campus and create an inviting space for community members, faculty, staff, leadership, and students to gather together for a greater cause.
