The Students Majoring in Math, Science or Technology (STEM) Scholarship recognizes and rewards qualified out-of-state freshmen and transfer undergraduate students for their high school and college performance.

Scholarship Value Varies by Entering Class Year

  • Fall 2019 - Spring 2020

    The STEM Scholarship is valued at $8,288 per year. This award has a four year value of $33,152.

    The scholarship is applied in equal parts to the fall and spring semesters ($4,144 per semester). In the 2019-2020 academic year, that represents a savings of $8,288.

    The STEM scholarship involves no cash transactions. Micro-scholarships earned from ESU on raise.me are included in this award.

  • Fall 2018 - Spring 2019

    The STEM Scholarship is valued at $8,288 per year. This award has a four year value of $33,152.

    The scholarship is applied in equal parts to the fall and spring semesters ($4,144 per semester). In the 2018-2019 academic year, that represents a savings of $8,288.

    The STEM Scholarship is valued at $7,716 per year. This award has a four year value of $30,864.

Approved undergraduate degree programs are:

To be eligible for the STEM Scholarship, a student must be offered admission to ESU and qualify as an out-of-state undergraduate student for tuition purposes. A student must enroll in an approved undergraduate degree program of study as defined by ESU. Freshmen and transfer students are eligible for the scholarship.

Entering out of state freshmen who have completed a college preparatory program of study ranked in the top 25% of their graduating class or present a cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or above on a 4.00 scale will receive the STEM Scholarship.

College students transferring from a community college, a four year college or university with a minimum of twenty-four (24) college credits and a cumulative college grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or above on a 4.00 scale will receive the STEM Scholarship.

Students who receive the STEM Scholarship are not eligible to receive the ACE, The Out-of-State Tuition Award or The Students First Tuition Scholarship during the same academic year.

The STEM Scholarship is renewable for the duration of a student’s undergraduate study provided they remain in an approved undergraduate program of study, maintain non-Pennsylvania resident undergraduate status, successfully completed 30 college credits in each proceeding academic year while maintaining an ESU cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above.
