Integrated Art + Design B.F.A.: 21st Century Creative Communication (60 credits)

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Integrated Art and Design is a professional program designed to prepare you for entry level positions in the fields of art and design or admission to graduate school.

The option to include courses in disciplines such as digital media, communications, sciences, other humanities or business management in your major program will further develop your technical and professional skills.

Consultation with advisers in all areas of interest will allow you to create a program tailored just for you in one of three concentrations: Design or Studio Art

DESIGN: is a creative process that integrates art and technology to communicate ideas and conceive innovative products. You will create dynamic solutions in digital/electronic imaging, illustration, 3D modeling, rendering and 3D printing and other fabrication processes. Up to date professional design software will prepare you for careers in the design field. Project based assignments and required internships make sure you will be ready to meet the challenge of the 21st century marketplace. Art directors in graphic, web and product design, animation, and game design studios stress the importance of a strong art background for success in these fields.

STUDIO ART: is at the heart of creative expression. Fine artists have historically been pioneers for innovations in the fields of design, entertainment, even STEM areas. You will develop skills in traditional fine art techniques like drawing, painting, clay and other sculptural media. Your own unique vision may incorporate digital/electronic media, 3D printing, or performance and your faculty will provide strong advising and mentorship. A required thesis project and portfolio will prepare you for the next step, whether it’s graduate school or a career as an exhibiting artist.

Core courses common to both programs lay a strong foundation for upper level work in both BFA and BA degree programs and provides the opportunity for students to easily move from the BA into the BFA program within the first two years to timely graduation.

New Mind Design Student Design Agency gives Art + Design majors the opportunity to work in a design agency under the guidance of faculty mentors. Statistics show that most designers and artists will freelance at some point in their careers, so this experiential learning experience will develop entrepreneurship and professionalism.
