Image Caption

The Office of University Relations is responsible for all images used to represent ESU in print and digital media. To assist the university community in promoting events and programs, we have established ways for you to identify images to include on your webpages, digital signs, publications, and other print or digital content. Feel free to peruse our photo gallery, request a photographer, or submit your own photos that meet the guidelines below.

Photography Request

If you would like University Relations to send a photographer to your event or take photos for a specific university project, please complete a Photography Request. If a photographer is not available, you may borrow a point-and-shoot camera from University Relations.

Use of University Photos

The Office of University Relations hires official photographers for the university and maintains an extensive library of high resolution digital photos for use in print and electronic publications. Most of the photos from university events are available for download on ESU’s Flickr account. If you do not see what you’re looking for, please contact the Office of University Relations, and a staff member will search the complete photo library.

Photography Release

As stated in the student handbook, ESU and its representatives on occasion take photographs for the university’s use in print and electronic publications. The handbook serves as public notice of the university’s intent to do so and as a release of permission to the university to use such images as it deems fit.

Any photos involving minors and non-ESU students require a Photo Release form to be completed and kept on file in University Relations.

Submitting Photos

In compliance with U.S. copyright law, any photos and/or images used on digital signs, webpages, or other digital media must meet one of the following requirements:

  • The user took the photo and there is no agreement that restricts photography (i.e., speaker contracts);
  • An ESU photographer, employee, or designee took the photo;
  • ESU purchased or licensed the image;
  • The image is free of charge, and the Creative Commons license is consistent with the intended use of the image;
  • The image has been released into the public domain.

If the image you wish to use DOES NOT meet one of the above requirements, the user must obtain permission from the owner of the image. Proof of license or permission must be shared with Web Services. University Relations reserves the right to reject any photo or image if ownership is questionable.
