
Assigned Responsibility During the Absence of the President
Policy Statement
The chief executive responsibility will be delegated to the President’s Cabinet when the President must be absent from campus for extended periods of time (more than three consecutive days) or cannot be reached for more than 24 hours.
The president reviews the order of succession by September 30 of each academic year and delivers the final order of succession to the Chancellor after a resolution and vote by the Council of Trustees at their September meeting.
The Order of Succession will identify in rank order, members of the executive management team who will act on behalf of the president in his/her absence, in the event he/she is temporarily unable to fulfill his/her responsibility, or in the event there is a vacancy.
The Chancellor (if he/she requires), State System Legal, colleague presidents, vice presidents, and university police will be notified of extended absence of the president from the campus and who the acting Chief Executive will be.
Reason for Policy
