Policy Statement:

Consistent with the scope of this policy, students eligible for Academic Forgiveness must complete at least one half (50%) of their degree requirements at East Stroudsburg University after Academic Forgiveness is granted.

Part-time students are not eligible to receive Academic Forgiveness until they have completed 6 credits as a readmitted student. In taking these 6 credits, a student must receive a C or higher grade in every course and is not permitted to withdraw from any courses while taking the 6 credits.

A student will be placed on academic probation for the first semester after Academic Forgiveness is granted. During the probation semester, the student must receive at least a C in every course and is not permitted to withdraw from any courses during the probationary semester. Exceptions may be granted for extenuating circumstances.

All course work completed during prior attendance with a C or higher grade will be included in credits earned toward the degree.

The student will be admitted under the current catalogue year and current program requirements.

Academic Forgiveness may be granted only once in a student’s college career at East Stroudsburg University. Academic Forgiveness may be granted for credits earned at East Stroudsburg University when a student is re-admitted or transfers from another college or university.

The decision to grant Academic Forgiveness, and related decisions, rests with the Provost and/or his/her designee.

Financial Aid: Academic Forgiveness may have an impact on state and federal financial aid regulations and requirements and satisfactory academic progress standards. Students are recommended to discuss their Academic Forgiveness plan with Financial Aid staff in the Student Enrollment Center and complete an appeal if there is a negative impact to their financial aid.
