I currently teach health and wellness class, first year experience class, recreation and leisure services for individuals with disabilities, and movement activities for special populations. My scholarship primarily resides in the relationship between instructional physical activity programs (IPAP and academic success as well as the investigation of inclusionary practices to successfully include individuals with disabilities into regular physical education.

Gene White is beginning his forty-seventh year of teaching. Prior to ESU, he taught physical education at Wordsworth Academy, a PA state approved private school for children aged 5-21 with emotional disturbance and behavioral disorders, for twenty-five years. He has served as the President of SHAPE PA, Eastern District of AAHPERD, and is the current President-elect of the National Academy for Health and Physical Literacy.
Gene White is beginning his forty-seventh year of teaching. He is a past chair of the Physical Education Teacher Education Department at East Stroudsburg University (ESU) of Pennsylvania. Prior to ESU, he taught physical education at Wordsworth Academy, a PA state approved private school for children aged 5-21 with emotional disturbance and behavioral disorders, for twenty-five years.
At ESU, in addition to having served as chair, he has been the PETE Senate representative, past co-chair of the Middle States Standards 12&14 work committee (2015-2017).
White is also the Director of the ESU ROCKETS Program. This is an after-school program for “at-risk” children from the local neighborhood. These children based on socio-economic levels have been labeled as at-risk for failure in school. This program is in its 19th year.
He is also the co-director of the ESU-Beijing Sport University-Shanghai University of Physical Education and Sport Summer Health Sciences Symposium.
Currently, White serves as President-elect of the National Academy for Health and Physical Literacy. He is also an executive board member of SHAPEPA
He has served as chair of the Adapted Physical Activity Committee, VP of Physical Education, VP of Recreation, and President of PSAHPERD. As President, White’s Presidential Project was a Student Leadership Conference. This conference is now in its Fifteenth year.
He has served as the Student Adviser, and President of the Eastern District (twice). As President of Eastern district, he was able to make Adapted Physical Activity a standing committee. He is the current chair of the North American Society of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance Professionals.

Dr. Zhang is currently working as an associate professor of physical education in East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to this position, Dr. Zhang received his Ph. D from the Ohio State University in 2008 and was awarded as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in the U.S. Up to date, Dr. Zhang has published more than ten manuscripts in SCI and SSCI journals including Journal of Teaching in Physical Education, The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness, BMC Public Health, and Journal of Human Sport and Exercise and he has made more than 30 presentations at international, national, and regional conferences. Dr. Zhang has been a reviewer for 11 peer-reviewed journals and conferences. As an experienced physical educator, he loves and show extensive potentials in teaching, research, and service. In 2018 Dr. Zhang received an Excellent Teaching Award by the International Chinese Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISCPAH).
