Continuing in the spirit of the Annual MLK Celebration Breakfast, ESU will host its 6th Annual MLK Day of Service on February 7th from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 pm in the University Center.  The ESU/MLK Annual Day of Service empowers individuals, and communities, by helping to bridge barriers, and create solutions to social problems. In the words of Dr. King, “The time is always right to do what is right”

Our goal for this initiative is to provide our students with the opportunity to engage in MLK’s legacy through social advocacy and volunteerism in servicing our Greater Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg communities. ESU, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and Monroe County Children and Youth Services will be collaborating with our staff, students, and community partners to provide needed items for children in foster care. Often children navigating through the foster care system are not prepared.  In entering, they will need immediate items to help them through this transitional period. Any donated item(s) will go a long way in helping these young people.  Some items needed are:  Bag packs, blankets, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, hair brushes, pajamas, comforters, and plain tee shirts. If you would like to donate or volunteer your time to help in this most worthy initiative, please contact Lyesha Fleming at , or Lurine Allotey at or call (570) 422-3896
