East Stroudsburg University is fully invested in ensuring that men of color are academically
and socially successful during their time as a student.
The Multicultural Male Initiative (MMI) was established to support the transition
and transformation of men entering and persisting at the institution. With the intent
of fostering inclusion within the immediate campus and surrounding communities, MMI
serves as a development system that prioritizes mentorship, academic excellence, self-awareness
and student engagement in an effort to create and maintain a sense of belonging at
East Stroudsburg University. Ultimately, MMI contributes to the institution's interest
in achieving higher satisfaction, retention and graduation rates amongst men of color.
MMI is operated by a team of administrators and student leaders that are connected
to the daily experience of multicultural men at ESU. With diverse interests, professional
backgrounds and campus affiliations, MMI administrators provide direct support to
all students that participate in the program throughout the year. MMI exists to educate
men of color through scholastic cultural, and social programming while contributing
to the recruitment, transition, and retention of underrepresented men in higher education.
