Faculty Assistants (FAs) support faculty who are teaching three or four credit classes of 60 or more undergraduate students. For classes of 120 or greater student enrollment, two FA’s can be provided.

Faculty Assistants are for courses that have over 60 undergraduate students enrolled but do not require academic support. FAs are available to assist with taking attendance, distributing and collecting materials, assisting with students’ questions via the Zoom chat feature, assisting with breakout rooms in Zoom, and other tasks deemed necessary. They are also available for up to three hours outside of the class to assist with arranging for technology services, scanning, copying, collating materials; updating bulletin boards; and other out-of-class tasks deemed necessary.

Faculty Assistants may not tutor or perform any functions of the instructor of record, e.g., they are not to grade any course assignments.

Faculty Assistants are hired by the professor or department. The funds are then reimbursed to the department at the conclusion of each semester.

If you wish to have your FA tutor for your course, please refer them to Matthew Simmons (msimmons@esu.edu), in the Warrior Tutoring Center.
