Interested in giving back to your fellow Warriors? Become a Peer Tutor or a Learning Assistant!

We are looking for qualified undergraduate and graduate peer Tutors and Learning Assistants (LAs).

The minimum qualifications for the all of our positions are:

  • 3.0 overall GPA
  • A grade of A or B in the course(s) in which you wish to tutor
  • Two professor recommendations, at least one of which from the course(s) in which you wish to tutor

The pay rate ranges from $10.00-$12.00/hr.

Peer Tutor

Peer Tutors are hired to tutor 100-200 level general education courses and some upper level courses.

Peer Tutor Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Holding weekly walk-in, appointment-based and/or individual tutoring sessions
  • Visiting the professor and the class three times a semester
  • Completing the required trainings

Large Classroom Tutor

The Large Classroom Tutors are hired to tutor and assist professors for courses of 60 or more students enrolled and that need assistance inside and outside of the classroom due to the large enrollment.

Large Classroom Tutor Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Attending the course with the students and helping the faculty with classroom duties (attendance, distributing and collecting materials, etc.)
  • Providing assistance outside of the classroom for up to three hours per week (photocopying, uploading course materials on D2L, etc.)
  • Holding weekly walk-in tutoring sessions
  • Completing the required trainings

Large Classroom Learning Assistant

The Large Classroom Learning Assistants are hired to assist faculty who have 60 or more students enrolled in their course and the course is designated (nationally) to be a high failure rate course.

Large Classroom Assistant Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Attending the course with the students and helping the faculty with classroom duties (attendance, distributing and collecting materials, etc.)
  • Providing assistance outside of the classroom for up to three hours per week (photocopying, uploading course materials on D2L, etc.)
  • Prepare session plans for and hold two, weekly, one-hour Review & Discussions Sessions
  • Provide two hours, weekly, of open discussion hours in the Learning Assistant Office (in Kemp Library, Rm. 109)
