In partnership with multiple student organizations, academic departments, and administrative offices, the Gender and Sexuality Center sponsors the annual LGBTQ History Month observance and celebration! As a community that has systematically been excluded from recognition for its contributions to collective American culture, we seek to highlight accomplishments and examine how far we've come!

Join us on Monday, October 1 from Noon - 2 p.m. in the University Center and the Science and Technology Center for a kickoff- pick up your giveaways and event calendars!

Tie-Diversity and Open Mic Event
Come and make your own tie-dye! First 50 participants receive a free white t-shirt or you provide the clothing, we provide the setup! We'll also be gathering to listen to empowering stories, music, and poetry, making our own pride candy jars, and taking some action to encourage fairness across Pennsylvania by signing letters about non-discrimination.

LGBTQ History Month Keynote: My So-Called Queer Latina Life: In Search of Authenticity, Connection, and Justice with Dr. Jayleen Galarza
What does it mean to identify as a queer person of color in today’s social and political climate? In this talk, Dr. Galarza will reflect on her study to describe the challenges and strengths of navigating intersecting identities and highlight systemic barriers faced by communities that exist within the margins.
