Athletic Training
The Department of Athletic Training at East Stroudsburg University offers Bachelor and Master of Science Athletic Training degrees.
Athletic Trainers work as front-line sports medicine professionals dealing with injury prevention, acute injury management, and rehabilitation and reconditioning to help athletes return to play.
Successful completion of the ESU Undergraduate and Graduate Athletic Training - Professional Practice programs leads to candidacy for the Athletic Training BOC certification examination and prepares the candidate for the "sports medicine team" approach to allied health care. ESU is a regional leader in the preparation of Athletic Training Professionals!
Communication Sciences and Disorders
A Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders is a preprofessional
program for students interested in becoming a speech-language pathologist (SLP).
SLPs assist people with communication and swallowing disorders improve their quality
of life and can work with people across the lifespan, from children to the elderly.
SLPs work in a variety of settings including schools, clinics, hospitals, private practice, and residential facilities, to name a few.
Exercise Science
Exercise Science is an exciting field where you work with athletes, clinical patients and/or healthy adults within hospitals, universities, corporations, and clinics.
Our students learn to assess exercise performance and develop exercise and sport programs to improve athletic performance, help in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic disease, and improve quality of life.
In addition, ESU Exercise Science leads the region in preparing students for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant and Chiropractic school post-graduation. If you want a career that has a daily and direct positive impact on people, come study Exercise Science at ESU!
Health Education
Bachelor of Science in Health Education Teacher Education
Through teaching, research and service the Department of Health Studies is dedicated to preparing exemplary practitioners who will function as leaders in the School Health environment, in teaching, assessment and curriculum development.
Students are taught the most up-to-date pedagogical methods to become effective School Health Educators. The faculty who teaches in the School Health Teacher Education Program are leaders in their field. Our Health Education Teacher Education program has received National Recognition from the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
This program is offered face-to-face as well as 100% distance education. It is also part of the dual certification in Health and Physical Education Teacher Education Program.
Physical Education
Becoming a health and physical education teacher allows you to make a difference in a child's life in the classroom and beyond.
Our program at ESU will prepare you to obtain your certification to teach pre-K through 12th grade.
Field Experiences and guided labs with school aged children are interwoven throughout our program.

Public Health
Bachelor of Science in Public Health with concentrations in: Health Service Administration & Community Health
Our undergraduate Public Health degree is CEPH accredited and also offers two concentrations (Community Health and Health Services Administration), two minors, six certificate programs, and the Accelerated Pathways program in the BS/MPH.
The Public Health program has been offered at ESU for over 40 years. The foundations of our program are a high level of community engagement and small class size led by a faculty that has expertise and experience in various aspects of the field of Public Health.
Students graduate with a robust quantitative skill set and experience successful post-graduate employment or educational outcomes.
