Prof. Tanoura’s recent design credits include all of the shows at ESU since 2009, Clever Little Lies (Westside Theatre, NYC), Peter and the Starcatcher (Adrienne Arsht Center) for which he received the Carbonell Award for the Best Scenic Design in 2015, The Master Builder (People's Light & Theatre), the world premiere of The Taster (Shakespeare & Company), Eugene Onegin (Anchorage Opera), Devil’s Music (George Street Playhouse), The 39 Steps (The Cape Playhouse), The Caretaker (Berkshire Theatre Festival), Othello (Shakespeare & Co.), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Opera North), a double bill of L'Enfant et les Sortilèges and Gianni Schicchi for Seattle Opera, Iowa 08 (Vineyard Theatre), Snow Girl (Birmingham Children’s Theatre), Julius Caesar (Connecticut Repertory Theatre), and the world premier of Cecilia’s Last Tea Party by Russell Davis (Passage Theatre).
Prof. Tanokura assisted John Lee Beatty on a number of Broadway productions including Driving Miss Daisey, The Royal Family, How the Grinch Stole Christmas – National Tour, and The Color Purple. As a sketch artist and model maker, he served for Production Design Group on various corporate design projects, such as Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN studios, and GM auto shows.
