Overview
The Fitness & Wellbeing programs provide safe and convenient environment where one can begin, maintain, and improve their chosen level of physical fitness through group fitness and personal training as well as emotional, intellectual, mental, occupational, sexual, social, and spiritual wellbeing through presentations and events.Participants of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.
Group Fitness

Group Fitness classes are offered for Campus Rec & Wellness members who are looking for an organized group workout that is challenging while also being scaled to multiple levels of fitness. Classes focus on a variety of specialized fitness methods and offer a space for like-minded individuals to come together with common fitness goals. Those looking for an upbeat and high-energy workout can attend classes like Cycling or Speed, Agility, & Sport Performance, while those looking for a slower paced setting can attend classes like Yoga, Pilates, or Stretch & Mobility. Whether you are interested in cardio, strength, or stretching or other formats, choose something that sparks your interest and join us today! Regular schedule classes are free for students and members alike.
Additionally, private bookings for group fitness classes can also be reserved for large groups like athletic teams, Greek life, and clubs. Private group sessions are charged by the half-hour or full-hour. *Group size and some scheduling restrictions may apply.
Personal Training
Our Fitness and Wellness team offers 1-on-1 and small group training to anyone with a Campus Rec & Wellness membership. At affordable single session and package rates priced well below the national average, our certified trainers can help you set, program, and reach your fitness goals. Whether you want to lose weight, gain weight, get stronger, move faster, or just feel better, personal training can help set you up for success. We offer complimentary fitness assessments to measure you at your starting point and show your progress over time. Our certified trainers specialize in building exercise programs that are created specific to your needs, goals, and abilities in an appropriate and progressive model so ensure anyone can safely and effectively reach their fitness and wellness goals.
Orientation Fitness Training Program
The Orientation Fitness Training Program offers new Campus Rec & Wellness members an opportunity to learn the basics of building an individualized exercise program. This program is free to new members and includes four 1-hour sessions of 1-on-1 training with one of our certified personal trainers. This program is offered to introduce new gym-goers guided instruction on where to find equipment, how to use it, and the basics of fitness training. The Orientation Fitness Training Program offers introductory lessons on resistance training, cardiovascular training, functional training, and flexibility training.
Wellness

Wellness is an integral component of Campus Rec & Wellness and is offered as a resource for the entire ESU community. Through the offering of programs, events, presentations, and strong collaborative relationships on campus, we can proactively address the wellness needs of the students, faculty, and staff. Topics such as mental health, physical health education, nutrition, and lifestyle changes are discussed with the intent of bringing awareness to risk factors and offer methods that can be used to empower individuals to make changes needed to enhance their quality of life.
Group Fitness Classes
The Group Fitness program is designed for Campus Recreation & Wellness members who are looking for an organized group workout that is challenging while also being scaled to multiple levels of fitness.
Trained instructors lead the workout through a variety of movement combinations that exercises your muscles while having fun at the same time.
We offer general fitness classes focused on increasing heart rate and strengthening the body. We also offer cycling classes to simulate flats, hills, climbs and sprints.
Classes are free of charge.

Class Descriptions
Pilates: Strengthen your core, improve flexibility, and enhance muscle tone with our Pilates
classes. This low-impact class focuses on controlled movements, breathwork, and precise
muscle engagement, making it ideal for enhancing posture, balance, and overall body
awareness. Suitable for all fitness levels, Pilates can be modified to accommodate
beginners or challenge advanced practitioners.- Yoga: This class harmonizes stretching, balance, and mindful breathing to leave your body feeling both relaxed and rejuvenated. Designed to improve flexibility, strength, and mental clarity, each session offers a peaceful yet invigorating experience that supports overall wellbeing.
- Stretch and Mobility: This session is designed to increase flexibility, reduce muscle tension, and enhance joint mobility through a series of gentle stretching exercises and mobility drills. Perfect for all fitness levels, this class focuses on improving your range of motion, reducing tightness, and helping prevent injury.
- Cycling: Join this high-energy group exercise class on stationary bikes, where instructors lead you through a dynamic ride that includes simulated flats, challenging hills, intense climbs, and exhilarating sprints. Get ready for an invigorating cardiovascular workout set to powerful, motivating music! Don't forget to bring a towel, water, and your Cycling pass to fully enjoy the experience.
- Speed, Agility, & Sport Performance: Run faster, move quicker, and improve your sport performance in a high intensity workout designed to push you beyond your limits. Learn to move better and improve your game through dynamic movements and high energy circuits. This class incorporates jumping, fast foot work, and explosive movement training to take your game to the next level.
