It's Time to Get Excited!
Your first semester is a period of significant possibility and adjustment. By staying proactive, seeking support and embracing opportunities, your efforts will set you up for a meaningful and transformational life at ESU.
New students and transfers, make sure you’re signed up for orientation and get involved with clubs and activities.
What to Expect Your First Semester
Academic Adjustments
College coursework often requires more independent learning, critical thinking and
time management than you may have experienced before. In your first year, you'll likely
take a mix of general education courses and introductory classes in your intended
major. ESU offers academic advising, tutoring, and writing centers to support you,
so take advantage of these resources.
Meeting New People
You'll meet students from various backgrounds and experiences and have opportunities
to get involved in student clubs, organizations, athletics and events.
If you live on campus, adjusting to residence life and shared living spaces is a key part of the experience.
Trying New Things
Managing your schedule, finances and daily responsibilities will be new and challenging
but also an exciting time for self-discovery, trying new activities and exploring
new interests.
There’s so much to do and explore at ESU.
