Life Threatening Emergency – Call 911
If you are experiencing a serious and immediate life-threatening crisis, please bypass calling CAPS and call 911 or the University Police. Although some people associate 911 with medical emergencies, they also support people with mental health emergencies such as thought of suicide.
I need to talk to someone now.
CAPS offers free and confidential support for mental health crises. In-person crisis support is available during business hours (Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m; Wednesday to Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) at CAPS, in the Health and Wellness Center, Lower Level of Sycamore Suites. If you choose to call our office during business hours, please tell the receptionist that you are experiencing a crisis and wish to speak to a psychologist. Student will be seen or spoken to by a CAPS psychologist as soon as possible.
After business hours and on weekends, contact ESU Campus Police for crisis support at (570) 422-3064. Examples of a mental health crisis include: thoughts and plans to hurt yourself or someone else, engaging in life-threatening behaviors, and\or recent assault or trauma.
