How to use ESU’s VPN

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, which allows you to securely access ESU’s online resources that are restricted to on-campus use only, such as Banner, Library databases, academic software, and network drives.

To use VPN, you need to install and configure a VPN client on your device. You will need your ESU Email and password to log in using the VPN client. Once you are connected, you can access ESU’s online resources as if you were on campus.

You can also use "Remote Desktop" to access your office computer from your personal device. When you are done using VPN, make sure to disconnect from the VPN client and close the application. This will free up VPN bandwidth for other users and improve your device’s performance and security.

Who can use ESU’s VPN?

Only authorized users can VPN into ESU’s network. Authorized users are stakeholders who have a valid ESU account and permission to access the network resources. The reason for this restriction is that ESU has a limited number of VPN licenses, which means only a certain number of users can connect at the same time. If you feel that you have a valid reason to use VPN, please fill out this Request for VPN Authorization Form. You will need to provide your name, email, department, and reason for requesting access. Your request will be reviewed by the IT staff, and you will be notified of the decision by email.
