The Department of Biological Sciences is housed in Moore Biology Hall and Hoeffner Science and Technology Center. These buildings contain two large lecture halls, multiple smaller classrooms, a full array of teaching laboratories, and specialized facilities including an applied biotechnology lab, cell culture room, freshwater aquatics lab, natural history museum, and a new aquaculture facility.

Our primary goal as a department is to provide a quality education for our students. We are committed to offering a wide range of biology courses and lab experiences to achieve this goal. We also provide internship and research opportunities so students can obtain practical real-world experience that prepares them for jobs and acceptance into graduate programs.

We have a longstanding relationship with Sanofi-Pasteur, the world's largest manufacturer of vaccines, where many of our students serve as interns and work as permanent employees.

The Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute, an affiliate of ESU, provides students with an opportunity to combine field and laboratory research and offers internship opportunities.

We are extremely proud of our graduates who go on to become successful biologists in the laboratory, in the field, and in academia.
