Reverse Transfer
The Reverse Transfer Agreement, established between Pennsylvania Community Colleges and the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Universities, can assist students who have transferred to ESU from a PA Community College in completing their associate's degree while pursuing their bachelor's degree at East Stroudsburg University.
What is Reverse Transfer
A student who has transferred to a baccalaureate institution from a community college without first earning an associate degree might still be able to earn that associate degree.
With Reverse Transfer, credits earned at the baccalaureate institution that meet and complete the academic credentials of the associate degree are “transferred back” from the four-year institution to the two-year institution.
Eligibility Criteria
- The student must be enrolled at ESU.
- The student must have transferred to ESU from a PA Community College, with that PA Community College as the last institution attended.
- The student must have earned a minimum of 30 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0 (excluding remedial/developmental coursework) at the PA Community College
- The student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at ESU.
- The student must have earned a total number of 60 or more college-level credits from the PA Community College and ESU combined.
How it Works
- ESU transfer admissions applications will include FERPA waiver requests for reverse transfer, which any student who has completed 30 credits or more at a PA Community College will be invited to sign.
- ESU will identify the students who are eligible for Reverse Transfer consideration, communicate with these students regarding participation in the Reverse Transfer program, and with the FERPA waiver, upload their transcript information using National Student Clearinghouse’s Reverse Transfer service.
- The PA Community College will review and evaluate eligible student records, issue the appropriate awards and inform the students of their status (and any missing requirements if applicable), and confirm awards as appropriate.
The PA Community College will submit a final student transcript to ESU that denotes the conferment of an award so the student’s ESU records may be updated and removed from future contacts and transmissions as they pertain to the Reverse Transfer.
