Oral Histories of Sterling Strauser
Sterling Strauser is a self-taught artist of national reputation who is central to the Poconos. Thanks to the generosity of Grey and Linda Carter, East Stroudsburg University owns an extensive collection of Strauser’s paintings as well as works by his wife, Dorothy, and his Circle of Artist friends. The collection will eventually be housed in a dedicated gallery open to the public.
The University is also collecting resources for the study of Strauser and his Circle.
The Oral History Project seeks to record on audio files the recollections of people who knew him and can shed light on his life, work, and relationship to the community. Below are audiotapes of interviews done so far by the History Department.
Learn about Sterling Strauser's life and works through oral histories and video interviews on ESU's YouTube channel.
