Dr. Cavaiuolo has worked in the rehabilitation/human service and special education field for 42 years. He teaches practices of inclusion in school and community life, including employment opportunities. He is the creator and Director of the Career Independent Living and Learning Studies (CILLS) program.

Caroline DiPipi-Hoy is a Professor of Special Education in the Department of Special Education at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. She previously taught academic and vocational skills to high school students with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. Additionally, she was an employment specialist and vocational program director for individuals with disabilities at Lehigh University. Currently, Dr. DiPipi-Hoy teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in assessment, positive behavior support, professional ethics, inclusionary practices and applied behavior analysis.

Special Education Assessment and Evaluation, Positive Behavior Support, Applied Behavior Analysis, Low Incidence Disabilities, Inclusionary Practices.

Research Interest

Dr. DiPipi-Hoy has authored and co-authored articles on transition planning, time-management, and systematic instruction, as well as a book entitled Teaching Time Management to Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her articles have appeared in journals such as, Exceptional Children, The Journal of Special Education, Teaching Exceptional Children and Preventing School Failure.

Service

Dr. DiPipi-Hoy is a member of many University Committees. She is co-chair of the University Assessment Committee and General Education Committee. She is a member of the College of Education Teacher Education Council. She has been a board member of Mekeel Childcare Center for 16 years.

Dr. Scala's work in Special Education revolves around Multi-tiered Systems of Support, Mental Health, and Special Education Leadership. She is involved in many local, state, and national boards, organizations. and initiatives.

Teaching Interest

My teaching interests include all undergraduate and graduate levels. I truly enjoy other collaborative areas such as our Professional Development School program with other faculty.

Research Interest

My research interests are generally involved with Special Education Administration and Leadership, Positive Behavior Supports, and collaborative initiatives, including multiple stakeholder engagement. I do have the opportunity to add to this list by initiatives I am associated with in the field.

Service

I provide many service opportunities at the local, state, and national level. I am a trustee on the Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District, many service areas at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, as well school related functions. At the state level, to name a few, I am a stakeholder for the Office for Dispute Resolution (ODR), a higher Education representative on the Special Education Advisory Panel (SEAP), board member for the PA Council for Exceptional Children (PACEC), board member for PA Council of Administrators of Special Education (PaCASE), and the Research Liaison for the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE), on the CASE Executive Board, and work with national associations with Leading by Convening, and other national organizations.

Student Group Advising

As chair for the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation, I have the opportunity to interface with all of the student organizations and support their work. I am a co-advisor for the ESU Council for Exceptional Children (ESU CEC).
