Timeline for Scheduling a Defense

In order to walk at graduation, students must have successfully defended their thesis. To ensure readers have adequate time to review theses, the department has established the following guidelines.

• The completed thesis must be submitted to readers by the University's deadline to apply to graduate.
• The defense will typically be held within a month of that date.
• After a successful defense, the thesis must be submitted to the Graduate College for publication.
