I investigate media’s role in both informing and misinforming us about our social worlds. I am currently interested in three vastly different types of media content: News, street fight videos, and selfies. I also develop training workshops related to inclusion and diversity for organizations.

The following premise guides my teaching, research, and service: Before we set out to resolve any communication problem, we must not forget to first look within to ourselves and develop an intimate understanding of who we are.

I teach intercultural communication, research methods, organizational communication, general semantics. My current research focuses on the impact of politics and media on sexual identity formation; and cultural symbolism of food on YouTube.

Research Interest

My current research focuses on the interaction between politics, media and the sexual minorities' struggle for rights in China. I also examine the cultural symbolism of food as expressed, constructed, reinforced through food blogging on YouTube.

Currently, I am the General Manager of Blue Ridge Communications TV13 covering northeastern PA. My EMMY Award winning experience also includes positions as News Director, News Anchor/ Reporter, and I am currently hosting the magazine program, Talk of the Town.

I work in public relations where I strive to raise awareness for organizations that benefit the environment, animals, and humanity.
