The Crisis Intervention Certificate is an interdisciplinary program designed for majors in Psychology, Social Work, Health, and Education although it welcomes students from all disciplines.

Crisis Intervention is emergency psychosocial care aimed at assisting individuals in a crisis situation to restore equilibrium to their biopsychosocial functioning and to minimize the potential for psychological trauma.

What will students learn to do?

  • The program includes courses covering the skills necessary to assess and deescalate crises.
  • It prepares students to respond to a variety of crisis situations in different professional settings.
  • Employment opportunities in the helping professions will be enhanced by this certificate.

External candidates must be interviewed by the Psychology Department chairperson or Sociology, Social Work & Criminal Justice Department chairperson to determine eligibility for the certificate program.
