East Stroudsburg University’s Xi Beta Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society is an organization that supports the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide. An established professional organization of nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International consists of members demonstrating excellence in scholarship and community nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing. More than 360,000 members have been inducted worldwide into Sigma Theta Tau since its founding in 1922.

ESU founded its Xi Beta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau in April 1994. ESU nursing graduates and community nurse leaders must meet certain criteria in order to be nominated for membership in this honor society. Undergraduate nursing candidates are required to complete at least one half of the nursing curriculum, maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and be ranked in the top 35 percent of their graduating class. Potential members must also demonstrate academic integrity and professional leadership potential.
