Student Medical Care is Provided at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono.
Any ESU student needing basic health services may visit the ESU Student Health Center facility located at LVHN ExpressCare, 200 East Brown Street in East Stroudsburg (at the corner of Prospect Street and East Brown Street) for any of the following needs:
- Medical evaluation/treatment for illness and minor injuries (free)
- Cold & Flu Care (free)
- Referrals to health care specialists and ESU support services
- Some diagnostic testing (charge varies)
- Tuberculosis testing (charge varies)
- Physical examinations for employment, drivers licenses and teaching certifications (charge varies)
- Testing for sexually transmitted infections/diseases (STI's/STD's) (free under a grant provided by Maternal Family Health Services)
- Treatment for sexually transmitted infections/diseases (minimal charge)
- Emergency Contraceptive Medication (for a charge)
- Pregnancy testing (free)
- Birth Control prescription (minimal fee)
- Health education and information about illnesses (free)
- Resources for depression and anxiety

All students should be sure to take their ESU I.D. with them to register.
Once registered at the Student Health Center, ESU students will be triaged by a registered nurse who will determine the level of care necessary.
Students will be seen by a Certified Registered Nursing Practitioner (CRNP) and when warranted students will have access to medications for a small fee.
The Student Health Services will accept cash, credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay for payment of any medications, TB testing and physicals. The Health Center accepts all major insurances for certain lab work and x-rays.

Student Health Center, ExpressCare Building Dedicated Access
ESU students will have dedicated access to care seven days a week at the Student Health Center located in the ExpressCare Building at, 200 East Brown Street in East Stroudsburg.
- Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Saturday - Sunday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Student Health Center, ExpressCare Building Community Hours
ESU students may also be seen at the East Stroudsburg ExpressCARE during the following hours but will be commingled with other patients from the community.
- Monday - Friday, 5 - 8 p.m.
- Saturday - Sunday, 8 - 10 a.m. & 2 - 8 p.m.
Additional Locations
An additional convenience for care that requires immediate attention off hours from those listed above, ESU students may also be seen at any of the other Lehigh Valley Health Network ExpressCARE locations in Monroe County for walk-in care services at no additional cost. (Does not include lab or x-ray costs).
Students who visit an ExpressCARE in Monroe County with a medical concern that needs advanced care/treatment may be easily transitioned to LVH-Pocono for a seamless range of care if they so choose.
Student must identify themselves as an ESU student and show their student ID at the time of registration.

Medical Records Information *Effective 2024-2025*
Student health records are housed in the LVH-Pocono Medicat portal.
Incoming new students may optionally upload health information to the Medicat portal OR complete these forms in-person upon their first visit to the Student Health Center.
Health history is NOT required for admission.
To access the student health portal:
- Access your Medicat portal, select “East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania” and log in using your ESU credentials.
- If you choose, you may use the Form icon tab to complete health history and consent forms.
Meningitis Vaccination Requirement
*Effective 2024-2025*
All incoming new students who are living in university housing are REQUIRED to document their meningitis vaccination status.
Pennsylvania law requires all students residing in university owned housing to have received a meningitis vaccination or be informed of the risks and benefits of the vaccine and complete a vaccination waiver.

Speech & Hearing Services
The ESU Speech and Hearing Center in Monroe Hall is available for students who are looking for speech and hearing therapies and evaluations. Therapies offered include individual and group therapy. The center works with all types of speech/language/hearing disabilities and differences. This includes TBI, transgender voice, hearing support and testing, accent reduction, and speech sound / language disorders. Students should call the center at (570) 422-3304.
