Requirements for Admission into the University Honors Program
There are three manners in which an incoming ESU student or a current ESU student can be invited to join the program:
- All incoming freshmen who possess a high school cumulative grade point average (GPA)
of, at minimum, 3.8 on a 4.00 scale, or its equivalent, will automatically be sent
an application to join the Honors Program.
- Incoming freshmen must apply to the Honors Program by by March 1st, meaning that applications for admission to ESU should be submitted before March 1st.
- The application for the Honors Program must be completed in full.
- Transfer students who are enrolled in their current institution's honors program should email both Co-Directors, Dr. Marianne Cutler and Dr. Kristopher Weeks, for consideration. Emails must be received by March 1st. The Co-Directors will provide additional details and instructions regarding the application process.
- Any currently enrolled ESU student who possesses a GPA of at least 3.5 at the university and who has not yet begun his/her third semester of college may request to join the program by emailing both Co-Directors, Dr. Marianne Cutler and Dr. Kristopher Weeks. Availability is dependent on open slots.
Note 1: Under no conditions may a current ESU student join the program if they have already begun or will begin their third semester of college.
Note 2: The University Honors Program is an undergraduate program. ESU graduate students cannot be members of the program.
Note 3: The GPA requirements are inflexible. No exceptions can be made.
