Course offerings are comprehensive, hands-on, and student-focused. Students are able to pursue professional careers in sport business, athletic administration, coaching, sport media and communications and marketing.
ESU's Sport Management major has been awarded accreditation from the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation.
ESU is one of just 35 universities globally to have COSMA accredited programs, which is less than 10% of all universities offering sport management programs. ESU students and alumni benefit from the COSMA accreditation that verifies quality education and promotes excellence in sport management academia.

ESU sport management programs offer students to work with real world sport organizations throughout their coursework. Students receive hands-on learning opportunities from multiple collaborative projects with industry, such as Special Olympics, Minor league professional baseball/hockey teams, and college athletics.
Service Learning: Developing a Marketing Plan for a Minor League Sports Team
In a collaborative effort with local minor league sport teams, students are challenged to create, research, develop, and present a marketing plan to organization representatives. By engaging in this experience, students have the opportunity to develop practical skills necessary to create professional distinction in a competitive environment. SMGT 409 Concept of Sport Marketing class has worked with Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, Pocono Raceway, and ESU Athletics for this service learning project.
