Policy Statement

The chief executive responsibility will be delegated to the President’s Cabinet when the President must be absent from campus for extended periods of time (more than three consecutive days) or cannot be reached for more than 24 hours.

The president reviews the order of succession by September 30 of each academic year and delivers the final order of succession to the Chancellor after a resolution and vote by the Council of Trustees at their September meeting.

The Chancellor (if he/she requires), State System Legal, colleague presidents, vice presidents, and university police will be notified of extended absence of the president from the campus and who the acting Chief Executive will be.
