ESU prepares you to take on a leading role as part of the next generation of educators. As a School-University Partnership, ESU Early Childhood Education advances equity, antiracism, and social justice within and among schools, colleges, universities, and their respective community and professional partners.

With a shared commitment to reflective practice, responsive innovation, and the generation of new knowledge, we help you build your portfolio of experiences through clinical practice and professional development.

Early Childhood Education B.S. - Track II Early Childhood Education Professional

Some individuals choose not to work as formal classroom teachers, but want a slightly different career path, still education related. If that is your choice, we offer the Early Childhood (EC) Professional Program which is tailored to your individual needs.

Our EC Professional students have the opportunity to pursue becoming a paraprofessional, participating in community-based education or informal education such as working in an environmental center, historic museum, or science museum, or working in a related educational field such as educational publishing or ministries.

Why ESU?

As a Professional Development School (PDS), ESU Early Childhood Education is a learning community that aims to advance equity, antiracism, and social justice within and among schools, colleges/universities, and their respective community and professional partners. Additionally, the PDS model embraces the preparation of educators through clinical practice.

The ESU chapter is a student branch of the Pennsylvania Education Association and the National Education Association. Field trips, speakers and meetings provide professional background information for students interested in the teaching profession.

Membership is by invitation to juniors and seniors in their teacher education curricula who have attained a quality point average of 3.4 or higher, completed a minimum of sixty-two hours of work at ESU, and exhibited commendable personal qualities and worthy educational ideals.
