Offering Marywood University’s MSW Program at ESU

Marywood University has been offering its Master in Social Work Program on the campus of East Stroudsburg University of PA since 2013. The Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) Program, which opened in 1969 in Scranton, is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and has had over 4000 graduates.

The "Pocono Program at East Stroudsburg University of PA" is offered on a three year, part-time basis, with Saturday classes. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program are able to apply for advanced standing status, allowing them to complete the program in two years. East Stroudsburg University received CSWE accreditation of its own Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) Program by the Commission on Accreditation (COA) of CSWE in June 2015, and Reaffirmation of Accreditation in June 2019 for 8 years until June 2027.

Marywood University has a long history of offering the MSW Program at off-campus locations, allowing students to earn the MSW degree closer to their home areas.

In addition to using part-time faculty who are working professional social workers in the area, full-time faculty travel to East Stroudsburg from Scranton to teach. Field placements will be developed in the home areas of students, making scheduling responsive to individual students’ needs.
