About the Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife Genetics Institute

The laboratory was founded with several missions in mind: carry out multidisciplinary research and education with a strong relationship with outside agencies, provide internship opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students, process evidence from wildlife cases and provide expert testimony in criminal cases investigated by fish and game agencies.

Capabilities have been constantly expanding and now include: distinguishing species of mammals, determining gender of mammals, and matching individual identities.
