Phase II of the suite-style housing is currently under construction and is expected to be completed August 2017. The first phase of this project included the building of Hawthorn and Hemlock suites at the corner of Smith and Normal Streets, which opened in January 2012.
Sycamore Suites (Phase II) will provide living accommodations for nearly 500 students.
Once completed the additional living quarters will allow ESU to temporarily take existing traditional residence halls off-line for life-cycle renovation projects.
The facility will be equipped with geothermal technology, upgraded security features, and attractive outdoor green spaces. LEED Silver Certification is anticipated.
The facility is being built by University Properties, Inc. The estimated cost of the project is $44M.
