Distinguished Career Award in Water Resources
2005 - With great pleasure we announce that the first ever recipient of the WRSG Distinguished Career Award is Gilbert F. White.  The nomination was presented by James Wescoat.  Gil was present at the annual business meeting to receive the award.   Photo         Nomination by Wescoat (pdf)

2005 - One paper award and one poster award were given:
2004 -  One paper and three poster awards were given:
Best Paper at the Masters Level - $100 to Ms. Laurence Picq,  Geography Dept., Univ. Western Michigan.  Advisor: Changshen He.  Assessing TMDL Implementation in the Macatawa Watershed, Michigan, using SWAT.
Best Poster at the PhD Level :  $100 to Brian Harshburger, Geography Dept., Univ. Idaho. Advisor: ? - Improved Short-term Operational Streamflow Forecasting for Snow-melt Dominated Basins in Idaho.  
Best Poster at the Masters Level (tie):
   $100 to Evan J. Fedorko, IDCE Dept., Clark University.  Advisor:  Dr. R. Gil Pontius.  Nitrate Runoff and Land Cover in the Ipswich River Watershed, Massachusetts (68kb).
   $100 to Jay Parsons, Geography Dept., Texas State Univ. - San Marcos.  Advisor: Mark Fonstad.  Developing a Cellular Automaton for Surface Water Flow.

 2003 - Best Paper at the Masters Level - $100 to Mark W. Bowen, Dept. of Geography, Southwest Missouri, Advisor: Robert Pavlowsky, "Effects of Reservoir Drawdown on Water Quality in a Small Reservoir, Southwest Missouri."

  2002 - There were no entries and no awards in 2002.

Best Paper at the Ph.D. Level - none awarded in 2001.
Best Paper at the Masters Level - $100 to Gregory J. Fisk - Oregon State, Advisor, Aaron Wolf.  "Utilizing GIS for the Collection of Key Variables in the Analysis of an International Freshwater River Basin Spatial Database."
Best Paper at the Undergraduate Level - $100 to Carl J. Legleiter - Montana State, advisor Andrew Marcus.  "Hyperspectral Stream Classification."
