Course Title: Volleyball I

A. Course Description
Students receive instruction in the basic fundamentals: overhand and underhand serve, overhand pass, underhand pass, spike, and block. Basic offensive and defensive strategies and the rules of play governing the use of the basic skills are thoroughly explained.
1. To introduce students to volleyball team concepts and basic rules.
2. To facilitate skill acquisition and improvement in the basic fundamentals of volleyball.

2. Learn and practice overhand passing.
3. Learn and practice underhand serving.
4. Learn and practice overhand serving.
5. Learn and practice spiking.
6. Learn and practice blocking.
7. Learn and practice offensive/defensive sets/strategies.

D. Class Policies
Each student is permitted two (2) absences.
A student taking more than 2 absences will fail the class.
Each student is responsible for information missed during his or her absence.
Each student is responsible for wearing appropriate attire for physical activity.
Each student is responsible for helping to set up and break down the nets every day.

F. Course Evaluation
1. Participation: each student is allowed two absences. (3 = fail)
2. Knowledge: a student must pass a performance test over the rules and skills of the
game.
3. This course is graded on a pass/fail basis.
