A. Course Description
This course is designed to provide further instruction in the fundamentals of volleyball such as the underhand and overhand serve, underhand and overhand pass, attacks and block. An in depth examination of offensive and defensive formations will be emphasized in an effort to structure and improve game play. Students will be introduced to the basic 4-2 offense, the 2-1-2 defense, the 6-2 offense, and the 5-1 offense. Additionally, students will gain exposure to advanced skills such as digging and jump serving.
B. Course Objectives
1. To provide further instruction to students about volleyball team concepts and rules.
2. To facilitate skill acquisition and improvement in the basic fundamentals of volleyball.
3. To introduce the student to advanced skills such as jump serves and digging.
4. To introduce the student to various offensive and defensive strategies such as the 4-2 Offense, the 2-1-2 Defense, the 6-2 Offense, and the 5-1 Offense.

E. Evaluation
A. Class Policies
Each student is permitted two (2) absences.
A student taking more than 2 absences will fail the class.
Each student is responsible for information missed during his or her absence.
Each student is responsible for wearing appropriate attire for physical activity.
Each student is responsible for helping to set up and break down the nets everyday.

F. Course Evaluation
1. Participation: each student is allowed two absences. (3 = fail)
2. Knowledge: a student must pass a performance test over the rules and skills of the
game.
5. This course is graded on a pass/fail basis.
