A. Course Description
This course is designed to familiarize the student with introductory swimming skills. The primary course objective of this course is for the individual to develop stroke mechanic proficiency. Stroke mechanics, aquatic conditioning, aquatic fitness activities will be emphasized.
B. Course Objectives
1. The student will learn the basic stroke mechanics and accompanying hydrodynamic principles.

1. Breathing Control and rhythmic breathing
2. Prone float/glide/recovery progression
3. Supine float/glide/recovery progression

E. Evaluation
FIT activities are graded “pass” or “fail.” In order to pass, a student must:
1. Attend all classes. Two unexcused absence are allowed.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in stroke mechanics.
