A little bit about the plants of the Poconos (one of my interests)
The Poconos are a particularly rich area to study for studying plants. The flora contains both typically southern and typically northern elements. For example the river birches of the Delaware River valley range down to the Carolinas. But on the Pocono Plateau one finds plants of the Boreal forests of Canada such as balsam fir. diam. At Table Rock overlooking Delaware Water Gap are the southern Juniper species of the Ridge and Valley province and the northern Juniper species of New England.
