Making a Flyer
Using Word, design and print out a flyer for your club or organization (make up a fictitious one if you do not belong to any club or organization) that announces some upcoming event that your organization is sponsoring. It must all fit on one page and as a minimum must include:
1.Some type of letterhead with at least one graphical figure and the name of your organization with a horizontal line separating it from the rest of the page(see example on reverse side of this sheet).
2.Part of the body of the flyer must be in column format, with a minimum of two columns (make sure letterhead is single column). You must use the columns command.
3.At least one other graphics figure(in addition to the one in the letterhead) that you have gotten from the WWW must be located somewhere in the flyer.
4.You must use a minimum of 3 different types of fonts in your flyer.
5.You must use at least three different sizes of fonts in your flyer.
6.You
must include at least one footnote in your flyer using footnote or
endnote command.
7.You must include the following features somewhere in your flyer:
·Boldfacing
·Underlining and Double Underlining
·Italics
·Subscripting
·Superscripting(the footnote superscript doesn't count here)
·A special character from symbols
menu(one not on the keyboard or one you can
make from keyboard combinations)
·A bulleted list using non-standard bullets
·A Drop Cap
8. Include one object you made using then Drawing Toolbar.
9. Place a table somewhere in your flyer using the Table Command- center it and use caption command to place an appropriate caption over it.
10. Use this table to place a graph using the graphing facilities of Word- also put a caption with it(see example on reverse side)
11. Use Equation Editor to place an equation somewhere in your flyer.
12. Also include your name in the Header(that is the Word Header of the document).
13. Place the current date and page number in the lower right corner in the Footer so that if a second page is added it will automatically be page 2.
The above requirements are the minimum requirements. Hopefully you will use your imaginations and initiative and come up with some other ideas. A sample of an acceptable flyer can be found on the reverse side of this sheet.
You will store the final copy of your file on your floppy disk in your mcdonald folder in a file called prog1.doc. You will turn in a paper copy of the flyer and your floppy disk with prog1.doc stored on it for grading. Make sure you place your name on your floppy disk!
Flyers will be graded as follows:
Meets all Minimum Requirements: 70 pts
Originality/Quality: 15 pts
Correct Filename/Folder 5 pts
Grammar/Spelling: 10 pts
Total 100 pts
