Exercise: Find a journal article and bring it with you to lab. The paper should be written using ACS style guidelines. The paper should be less than 5 years old and from a relevant journal. Choose a paper which incorporates tables and figures.  Recomended Journals in order of suitability:  Biochemistry,  Journal of Biological Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of organic chemistry, Journal of the American Chemical Society ( full articles only no short communications and no review/perspective articals).  For other articles you should check with me first.  Print out or download the PDF do not use the html based article.
The article must be from a chemistry journal.  You may not use an educational journal or a magazine.  That means things like Prevention and Discovery don't count.  Scientific American is also a Magazine as is Chemical and Engineering News.  You will need to go to the library, at least electronicaly, for this assignment.  If you don't show up with an appropriate article you will receive a 0 for the laboratory.  No notebook preparation is required.

In the laboratory Exercise Outline:

We will discuss the appropriate writing of reports and treatment of figures and tables in preparation for your first written report.
