[1] In keeping with the philosophy "I'd rather you do 11 things well than 12 things badly", Unit Quiz #12 will be optional. Yes, that's right, optional. Unit #12 material will be fair game for the Final Exam, but will make up only a small portion of it. If you take the Unit #12 Quiz, I will use your grade only if it helps your Quiz average. As with previous Quizzes, you may take the Unit #12 Quiz as many times as you like, and all of the usual Quiz rules apply. [2] The MasteringPhysics problems for Unit #12 are also optional, and will be available for you to work on until May 4th. [3] Our Final Exam will officially take place between 2pm and 4pm on Tuesday, May 4th in Gessner 117/Gessner 220. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, you may begin the Exam as early as 1pm and may stay as late as 5pm.
Happy Snow Day #4!
In light of the snowy goodness, note the following changes to the course schedule:
[1] The second half of the Physiluge contest has been rescheduled for Monday, March 1, 2010. Remember, the physical parameters of the physiluge (linear dimensions, angles, ball type) may change on Monday, but the general set-up will remain the same. Think about your strategy (and use kinematics!) [2] Quiz #5 has been postponed. The official date for Quiz #5 will be the second half of class on Friday, March 5th. [3] The MasteringPhysics problems for Unit #5 have been pushed forward as well. They will not be due until Friday, March 5th. [4] For those that plan on departing for Spring Break (yay!) early, you may take Quiz #5 on Thursday, March 4th by scheduling a Quiz time with me. 11AM is a good time to take it, but I'll consider other times as well if that doesn't work for you. [5] After Spring Break, we will be back on the normal course schedule. Unit Quiz #6, for example, will be given on the Friday of the first week back after break (Friday, March 19th). [6] Kosciuszko retains gold medal honors for a few more days. The results of Wednesday's contest, in case you haven't yet seen them, are posted below.
