Physics IV [Phys 262]
Objectives and Homework for September 23, 2005.

[1] Know the results of the Double Slit Experiment, both at moderate intensities and at low intensities.  Be able to explain what these results imply.

[2] Know what the Schrodinger Wave Equation is, and know what it tells us.  Know also the motivation behind it.

[3] Know the [correct!] properties that a wavefunction must satisfy, and be able to apply these for arbitrary potentials.

[4] Know what is meant by the terms “Eigenstate” and “Stationary State”.

[5] Understand the Time-Independent Schrodinger Equation, and understand the special properties of its solutions.

[6] Understand the concept of an “operator”.

[7] Be able to calculate arbitrary expectation values, given sufficient information.
