1. http://www.ntu.ac.sg/ntu/lib/commun.html
This is a site for communication studies and journalism researchers which includes several resources for information and includes many different shortcuts. The shortcuts take you to the exact field of mass media you wish to research, however the information is broad and gives you a lot of generalized information. Have resources from many Polytechnic institutions for further research. I felt this site was good for topics that were broad, however, did not go into great detail about indepth topics such as mine, ethics in radio broadcasting. It's a very big page with a lot of information which takes a while to look through.

2. http://ecnet.net/users/glisten/media.htm
This site is a Media Communications resource which is set up well. In this site at the top of the screen has your area of interest. These include all forms of media, and have many listings with facts and figures as well as few opinions on ethics. Yet again, this site seems to be very broad in terms of information. And it doesn't take too much time to go through because it is a rather short page.

3. http://moorhead.msus.edu
This is the official website of Moorhead University which holds an array of Internet help to journalism students enrolled in International Communications. This site deals a lot with foreign issues of communications and does not focus on other types of mass media as much as it deals with journalism. Not a great site for mass media research as such, however, does offer some information, which may be helpful to some students.

4. http://usia.gov/usiahome/bbureau.htm
This is the United States Information Agency and International Broadcasting Bureau of Broadcasting web site. This site although it has to do with mass media does not deal with mass media in the sense in which we think of it being radio broadcasting, television, production etc. But this is more of a site based on military broadcasting and the broadcasting whether it be radio, television, or publication, which makes it's way internationally. Not a real good research site in terms of mass media.

5. http://nyu.edu/library/bobst/research/soc/journal/
As you may have noticed thus far, I have found no real exciting earth-shattering sites with enough information to write a high school term paper. But direct from the Bobst Library of Journalism and Mass Media Resources comes an excellent research site in my opinion. Not only is this site easy to use, but it offers an abundance of information ranging in the various types of mass media and offers several subject areas in which to choose. But, per say you can't find the subject you are researching, then the site has shortcuts and other resources to point you in the right direction in the topic which you are researching, whether your topic be cultural studies, media technology, as well as many major broadcast media sites. I liked this site due to the easy access as well as the vast amount of information available within the very confines of the site. All in all this is a good site.

6. http://www.mediastudies.org
Media Studies, is a more publication orientated website with many components of its information database coming from select books and magazines. This is not a terrible website; it talks about features in the media studies page as well as having various resource links to other sites which can be more to the point, and upon visiting these shortcuts I realized they are good sources of information for all types of media.

7. http://bcn.boulder.co.us
This is the official website of the University of Colorado from whom I got the address from a friend who attends the University and has an Intro. to Mass Media class as well. So upon entering the site I noticed this site has resources for internet study which are up to date, it also holds online syllabi of courses at the university. Although it does have good shortcuts, the site does not have too much info through the site itself, but the shortcuts to other areas hold in depth resources the university students themselves use on a regular basis for research.

8. http://www.fcc.gov/mmb.html
This is the official web site of the Federal Communication Commission or FCC. This particular site has to do with the rules and regulations of broadcasting over the airways, it also holds databases, public notices and news releases making the public aware of different rules that have changed face over the years. This is a good site for say ethics in say radio broadcasting because you can look up the rules and exactly what the rules mean. I feel this is a good source of information because it is as they say straight from the horses' mouth.

9. http://gort.ucsd.edu/ek/comm/comm.html
This is from the social sciences and humanities library at the University of California, in San Diego. This site provides databases of interest including indexes to communication journals, it has the World News Connection as well as other selected sources on the internet. This site also holds government and public policies in mass media as well as offering many shortcuts to the FCC site and other informative sites on the web.

10. http://www.massmedia.com
This is the mass media home page which happens to be very limited with resource information and I really had a hard time accessing short cuts on the web. As far as I am concerned this is not he site to look at for general information or in depth info it would be in the students best interests to use any of the a fore mentioned web sites to get better information.

Website for a manufacturer of High Definition TV production equipment. The site contained plenty of technical information. It also provided links to articles, both popular and scholarly on the subject of High Definition TV. There were also links to other labs and studies done on High Definition TV. The company also provided a list of video projects done in conjunction with several networks and production studios that the consumer can arrange to see or research. I would recommend this site as an excellent source of info for a research paper, and the company itself presents an ample amount of info on the it's products.

2. FCC V Chip Page- http://www.fcc.gov/vchip
Links to legislative history of the V chip. Access to discussion groups about the V chip. Ways to file comments on the V chip or legislation about it, and receive a facts sheet from the fcc. The site offers no technical history or other information about the V chip.

3. Film.com- http://www.film.com/default.html
A source for film reviews, discussion group, announcements of upcoming film festivals and workshops, as well as film previews. Links to film schools and other discussion groups on film making. Good source of info, not much info on filmmaking itself, this is more intended to accompany a formal education in film, as sort of a general info source and fun site to explore if you are interested in movie making.

4. State of Censorship- http://www.film.com/default.html
A discussion of censorship in modern media. This site includes choices of information on censorship of television, radio, music, and the internet. The site mostly contains some quotes from various studies, magazines, journals, artists, politicians, and media professors, all organized into pro and con sections. This is not a very informative site for facts, just a collection of opinions, but it is an interesting site.

5. Fiber optics student information forum-http://eio.com/fibintro.html
This is an information site for engineering students studying fiberoptics. It contains a fiber optics glossary, some examples of fiber optic applications, a discussion group, and technical information. It also contains historical information on fiber optics. There is also a discussion group "Where is the web taking itself". There is a section of "what can be found on the web". The site also recommends some interesting sites for beginners. This site is good for a learning tool, and the background info and history are good for research papers.

7. American Communication Association- http://www.uark.edu/depts.comminfo/www/aca.html.
This site is the official site of the ACA. There is plenty of access to academic discussions and debates on the web. There are pages for communication related law, policy, and "communication and society". There are a large number of links to journals, discussion groups, studies, and reference works. There are also reviews of academic programs, articles, and essays posted. There is a web address where you can contact the ACA to file comments and request information. This is a very well organized site full of great resources for any communication student or other individual interested in communication and media.

8. Optical Recording Media- http://www.rci.rutgers.edu/~ dmorton/optical.html
A history of optical sound recording, a section on "sound on film", as well as details on the many different optical recording changes over the years, and how they worked. There is an large amount of information on the mini disk and it's progress. This section includes articles, journals, and reviews of such. The site also provides links to more of the same.
This is a very good site to find out about optical recording technology, especially the mini disk.

9. The National Museum of Photography, Film, and Television- http://www.nmsi.ac.uk/nmpft
Links to other sites on media history. Most of this site is about the museum, upcoming exhibits, and it's current attractions. The museum looks like a very interesting place to visit, but the sight is only good if you intend to do so, it does not contain much useful information.

10. The FCC's official Web Site- http://www.fcc.gov/
The FCC's main page. This is an excellent source for press releases, FCC regulations, licensing, and general news on technology legislation. The site provides an address for you to contact the FCC for a number purposes. It also lists ways to contact administrative offices of the FCC and provides links to other FCC pages. A good place to get information on legislation and FCC codes.
