The Department of Biological Sciences offers a flexible program designed to prepare students for a variety of positions in field biology and professional opportunities in graduate school. At a time when many institutions are emphasizing a cellular/molecular approach to biology, our department continues its commitment to whole organism biology. Our graduates are prepared to assume leadership roles in all aspects of field biology, including the increasingly important disciplines of conservation biology and restoration ecology. Opportunities also exist for combining interest in organismal biology and molecular biotechnology through courses in wildlife disease, wildlife microbiology and experiences provided by ESU’s newly established Northeast Wildlife DNA Laboratory.
