File manager displays file attributes in one of two user-selectable ways. The image below shows the approach to displaying file attributes known as the long view:

When you first start file manager, the directory windows displays the directory tree for the current drive and the contents of the current directory. By using commands on the View menu, you can choose to display only the directory tree or only the contents of the current directory. Also under the View menu, you can change the view files from different perspectives. For instance, you can view varying degrees of information on files such as their size, and the time and date of their last modification.
The image below shows the short view of file attributes:

To show only the names of files in the active window, select Name under the View menu. To see complete information about each file, select All File Details under the View menu. To display specific information about each file, select Partial Details under the View menu. A dialog box then appears in which you select the type of file information you would like displayed.
