MULTIPLE DIRECTORY VIEWING AND

THE STATUS BAR

The status bar is located on the bottom of the File Manager window. The right side of the status bar always displays the number and aggregate size of the files in the selected directory or subdirectory. When the directory tree portion of the window is active, the left portion of the bar shows the drive letter, total size, and free space on the selected drive. When the contents list is active, it shows the size of the selected file; if multiple files are selected, this area shows the total number and size of the selected files.

The figure above illustrates a different view of File Manger. Notice that there are two directory windows open, with each open directory appearing in its own directory window. While you can select only one directory at a time within a given directory window, you can also open multiple directory windows. This is useful when you want to copy or move files from one drive to another. Notice that the status bar in the lower left corner is indicating that the file vicky.doc on drive I is being copied to the CLASS directory on drive N.
