Getting Involved on your floor
The residence life staff sponsors many programs in the residence halls and around campus for students. Every Resident Advisor sponsors one or more socials month for their floor, and each building sponsors at least three educational programs a semester. You may learn more from your RA and by looking for promotional flyers in your building. The residence life staff also gives students the opportunity to be part of the planning process by joining groups such as the Residence Hall Association and Community Board.
The Late Night programs are held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights each week. These programs give students a chance to do something fun on the weekends. Some events you'll see are bingo, laser-tag, intramural leagues, talent competitions, seasonal parties and more!
Living on campus automatically makes students a member of the Residence Hall Association. As the governing body of the Community Boards, this organization is the official voice of residents on campus and works closely with department leaders to promote a great residential experience for students. RHA is also a programming group, sponsoring and co-sponsoring major events on campus, and bus trips to areas of interest.
Community Boards are made up of students in every residential building. Community Boards work toward improving amenities and services provided. They also are responsible for setting up social events in the residence halls to bring students together and to set a positive tone for the entire building.
